These inspections are REQUIRED! NFPA the National Fire Protection Association produces the “Model Codes” in which building codes are based. NFPA 80 the Model Code is the Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives.
NFPA 80 Chapter 5.2 Inspection and Testing states that upon completion of the installation, the door, shutters, and window assemblies shall be inspected and tested in accordance with 5.2.4. A record of all inspections and testing shall be signed by the inspector and kept for inspection by the AHJ. These records must be maintained for the life of the assembly. These inspections must be performed not less than Annually.
